Forming of Lesswalk.org and major leads

Thank to the might social media! In the next 2 weeks from my post, I have managed to get in touch with a few major potential leads from Major bike sharing companies, liquidators, recycling factory and government authority.

On 15th March, I took a flight from Yangon to Beijing to visit the first bicycle junkyard in China. There are thousands of bicycles lying around waiting to be dismantled and then sent to recycling plant. Bicycle which cost USD 400-500 to make are now only worth USD 10. Energy and resources went into the making of these bicycles and more energy will now be wasted to recycle them. I need to allocate these bikes to needy ones!

After my trip to Beijing, i started working on the logistics costs and the refurbishing process to turn these waste into opportunity for the poor students.

Around last week of March, one of my close contact has brought me probably the best news in my life. After the withdrawal of bicycle sharing companies in the region, there are many brand news bikes at warehousing across Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia for sales! These brand news bikes are in perfect condition and it will only cost me less than a fraction of its original price! I immediately started to work on this lead and started my process of importing the first 10,000 brand news bikes into Myanmar for the students!

Mike, I cannot stressed how touched I am today when I read your project Lesswalk on the Flipboard app which was carried by one of the news portals. Personally I believe whatever situation we find ourselves in, it is our duty to help the underprivileged, imagine what education can do to change a lot of peoples lives, the fact that children walk miles to attend classes which are no fault of theirs discourages them from going to school, now your intervention to me is amazing because children from villages can use the donated bicycles as a means of transport to get to school early and…
